I am of that age where people around me are being orphaned left and right, and many of us have not just organised funerals but cleared and sold our parents' houses. Prada fragrances offer a complete range of olfactive possibilities to explore and express the multidimensions of one’s identity, from the well-established Luna Rossa Collection for men to the new signature feminine fragrance by Prada, Paradoxe Eau de Parfum. Not in the way that you would think, with regarding to 'complex unfolding' of notes, evolving layers, sexy, verses non sexy, but just that ( to ME anyhow) that it is evades ( to me) s solid set of descriptions.

We lived all over the world, rarely living in the same place for more than a couple of years due to my fathers occupation, but I distinctly remember seeing this set and smelling them on the island of Madera, Portugal. Much speculation exists as to whether or not Coty got hold of the Chanel no 5 formula or even that Coty had it originally and no 5 was the copy? Can anyone comment on the differences in scent and/or strength between the Creamy Skin Perfume, the Parfum de Toilette and the Cologne Spray? Discover the wardrobe of fragrance creations from Yves Saint Laurent Iconic scents such as Black Opium, Libre and Y For Men, reflecting daring attitude and unique couture style.By the end of the session we had covered ourselves in a veritable cacophony of scents all up our arms.

For these latest finds included no fewer than four bottles or purse sprays that were BNIB - or Brand Old In Box, to be more exact. And here we all are to hear who it was - if that old bat Madam Coty still has it in her to figure out the murderess in our whodunnit - for surely it was a female, poison after all is the woman's weapon. We were unpacking and I saw this set, wanted to know what it was and my mom sat with me making sure I didn't spill, break or damage in my enthusiasm. I can almost see a woman with a stacked up do such as was worn in the early seventies and a navy blue doubleknit dress. Or is it just the vanilla smell of that permanently washed Australian niece who's turned up from nowhere and her husband, no, fiance, all woody eau de cologne and sportscar. The lasting power is absolutely incredible - today I put on a t-shirt I wore 5 days ago and I still get very clear whiffs of it. Yes, my recent windfall has definitely piqued my curiosity in vintage scents, and I await with interest to see what Tony comes back with from his next decluttering session at the family home.

The flowers soften up the citruses and aldehydes and turn into a much warmer musk toward the dry down stage. On me, Arpege only works in very cold weather, otherwise it is sour, but I believe the Magnet, just like No. When I wear aldehydes the fragrance rivets my attention and senses, and I feel cool oxygenated energy going in my nose, barely touching my shoulders (throat), rather whoosing up and out my Third Eye and mostly the Crown chakras, as it were. and is quite nice, but it's not really my style so I passed it onto a lady who helps to care for my mum. L'Aimant is classy, sweet, pretty and although normally I prefer Orientals and deeper statement fragrances, it's just as much a statement to wear softer fragrances like this one.Not much sillage or lasting power, which allows me to reapply without blasting anyone in the near vicinity. The center of the perfume is the main attraction, consisting of an orchid-vanilla accord joined with rose, ylang-ylang and some jasmine, which make a very delicious bouquet with just an edge of the sultry-exotic thrown in to throw us a bit off balance. Maybe I am the only one or maybe it is because L'Aimant is not as strong as Chanel no 5, so I don't get a headache from it. In fact this could best be described as a poor man's MDCI Promesse de l'Aube - poor only in a monetary sense, for Chantilly could easily pass for a niche fragrance. And how amazing that this tiny slice of affordable luxury continues undaunted on its journey to this day.

It should be presented in lovely bottle and relaunch together with other timeless creations of monsieur Coty, as L'Origan, La Rose Jaqueminot and Emeraude.

It feels like a cuddly and friendly version of the ylang-jasmine-rose aldehydic floral (a la no 5) with a slight peachiness and a less green and more vanillic drydown than the Chanel. Whilst I mentioned it in my “Baker’s Dozen: 13 Roses for Anyone Feeling Unlucky in Love”, The Dandy could find no evidence of a full review of the fragrance, though I knew in my heart of hearts I’d penned one! I've never received compliments on it or anything, but then in my circles, I am known for wearing all different kinds of perfumes.
